JEDDAH, 6 June 2005 — A bridegroom caused a stir here when he failed to arrive for his marriage on time. The bride’s family and friends made allowance for the groom’s lateness initially thinking that the groom was playing a prank, Al-Madinah newspaper reported. But when the hours went by, panic set in as the groom was still missing. That’s when the family and friends began their frantic phone calls. They also sent out search parties to his favorite haunts, but all their efforts came to a nought. Just when they were all considering to ring up the hospitals to find out if he was involved in an accident, a worker at the wedding hall told the people gathered there of the man sleeping in his car for hours at the parking lot. They all rushed to the car with hope in their hearts. And to their joy, they found the groom slumped on his seat in blissful sleep. The commotion woke him up, and the groom apologized to every body for causing all the trouble. He sheepishly admitted that he was tired after all the running about he had to do to set up the wedding, that he nearly missed it.
