AMMAN, 13 June 2005 — Jordan and the United Arab Emirates on Saturday initialed an agreement for reciprocal protection of each country’s investments in the other country, according to an official statement. The accord is primarily designed to assure UAE private sector investments that their projects, worth of hundreds of millions of US dollars in Jordan, would be secure, economists said. The agreement’s text, which has been worked out by the two sides at the end of a negotiation process, is to be forwarded to the cabinets in the two countries for approval before the accord is inked in its final shape, officials said.
