JEDDAH, 14 June 2005 — The General Manager of National Commercial Bank (NCB) Abdulhadi A. Shayif has resigned to focus more on personal and family matters, the bank said in a press statement. NCB said it had accepted the resignation.
The statement said Shayif would continue to manage the bank until the end of September. “The higher management of the bank has accepted the resignation of Shayif, who has been holding the general manager post since 1999,” it added.
In a statement on the occasion, NCB Chairman and Managing Director Abdullah Bahamdan commended Shayif’s efforts in improving the bank’s performance and services during his 30 years service, especially in the past six years when he held the post of general manager. Shayif would continue as a member of NCB board and its executive committee, the chairman said.
Shayif said he took the decision to resign after his 30-year-long banking service with NCB. “It was high time to give more attention to personal and family matters after years of continuous work,” he said. He referred to his efforts for the success of NCB and taking the bank to the right track.
Shayif said he was confident that NCB would achieve greater successes in the future in terms of financial performance, making strategic changes and introducing new services and products, under the able leadership of its chairman and board.
Shayif had received Al-Istiqlal medal of the first order from King Abdallah of Jordan for his contributions to developing banking services in Jordan.
