JEDDAH, 15 June 2005 — Abdul Kareem Abu Al-Nasr, former deputy general manager of the National Commercial Bank (NCB), has been appointed general manager replacing Abdulhadi Shayif who resigned the top post on Monday.

Abdullah Bahamdan, chairman and managing director of NCB, said the selection of the new general manager from the bank’s executives reflected the success of its policy of training national cadre to take up high posts.

He described Abu Al-Nasr as one of the bank’s outstanding executives who contributed immensely to achieve its strategy, which was set out in mid-1990s. Abu Al-Nasr will take over as general manager on Oct. 1, 2005.

Abu Al-Nasr, who holds a master degree in business administration from the American University in Cairo, has held several important posts in the bank. He was appointed deputy general manager in 2001 after holding the post of manager for personal banking services in 1999.

In a statement after his new appointment, Abu Al-Nasr said he would exert more efforts to realize the hopes and aspirations of the board of directors, shareholders and clients as well as the Kingdom’s monetary authorities. “I will focus on completing a program to transfer all our branches to provide Islamic banking services and introduce new banking services and products,” he explained.
