CAIRO, 20 June 2005 — After an absence of a few years, the prominent Egyptian actor Yahia Al- Fakharani will return to the big screen in a new film about Mohammad Ali Pasha and his reign in Egypt.

“Portraying Mohammad Ali has always been a dream of mine,” said Yahia. The script is complete; however Yahia refused to reveal any details. The actor previously turned down an offer to play the role of Mohammad Ali in a television series, stressing that his reign consisted of several wars that could only be portrayed properly on the big screen. Yahia has postponed all other projects until he completes shooting the final scenes for his upcoming television in series which is scheduled to be broadcast during Ramadan. The drama concerns the trials and tribulations of a fisherman from Alexandria.

Writer Jala Abdul Qawi and director Ahmad Saqer are currently looking for an actor resembling Yahia, to play the role of the fisherman in his early twenties. Yahia’s son was offered the role but he turned it down, saying that he preferred to focus on directing instead of acting.
