JEDDAH, 25 June 2005 — An Indian, who owns a grocery shop in Riyadh, took matters in his hands to get his dues. And he did not consider the consequences. With an Al-Nasr Club soccer player failing to pay SR3,000, which the player had run up as dues over a period of time by purchasing foodstuff and other essentials from the shop, the owner locked the player up in his house to either force him to pay up or get his relatives to settle the bill, Al-Watan reported yesterday, without naming either the owner or the player. The paper also pointed out that many Al-Nasr players were in a bit of a spot as they had run up arrears in house rents and other dues. This is largely due to a delay in the payment of salaries. The paper also reported that cars of four players have been impounded for not paying their installments.
