Malaki Iskindirya’ to Rake in the Hoolah in Two Weeks

CAIRO, 26 June 2005 — The new Egyptian film “Malaki Iskindirya,” starring young Egyptian actors Ahmad Izz and Ghada Adel, has already earned a profit of 1.78 million Egyptian pounds from its first week of screening. This makes it the highest grossing film of the year so far.

The film is expected to continue raking in large profits and will likely reach 3.5 million Egyptian pounds by the end of its second week of screening.

This type of success has not been enjoyed by any other Arab film.

Director Sandra Nashat and producer Wael Abdullah chose a calculated promotional campaign for the film, which called on Ahmad to refrain from making any public appearances or even accepting any new acting offers until the film was screened. Ahmad disappeared from the scenes for a while until the film was released.
