JEDDAH, 26 June 2005 — Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) in cooperation with the World Bank is conducting a complete evaluation of the investment environment in the Kingdom, local and foreign.

The goal is to provide the appropriate scientific mechanism to measure and compare the progress made in the investment environment and consequently determine the priorities and fields that need directing its efforts toward achieving investment reforms and creating a competitive environment regionally and internationally, which is one of the six roles listed by SAGIA’s strategy.

The evaluation will include detailed reports describing the investment environment in some countries. The reports would be based on the results of field surveys conducted regularly for this purpose in addition to other analytic methods.

SAGIA’s Governor Amr Dabbagh yesterday signed an agreement with Dr. Osama Tayeb, president of King Abdul Aziz University of Jeddah, for the university’s Research and Consulting Center to conduct the survey on a sample of 1,000 companies and institutions in the Kingdom.

This survey will include the World Economic Forum and the investment environment and will be concluded within 11 weeks.
