CAIRO, 28 June 2005 — Prominent Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid announced that that she had objected to the controversial Egyptian singer Ruby being in her upcoming film was untrue. According to rumors, Nabila told the director, Khaled Al-Hajar, that she would withdraw from the cast if he insisted that Ruby appear in the film.
Nabila has asked for the young Egyptian actors Hanan Turk and Ahmad Razi to play the role of her children in the film, and has asked Al-Hajar to find a new face to play her third daughter.
Nabila suddenly withdrew from the leading role in a television drama based on a popular folktale “Raya wi Iskeena.” Nabila said that the role of the evil woman, who murders innocent women and steals their money, is far too complex for television.
