LONDON, 29 June 2005 — Ralf Schumacher is set to make his comeback in Sunday’s French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours following a heavy crash at the US Grand Prix on June 19.
Schumacher’s Toyota car suffered a tire blow-out during practice for the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis which led to the controversial boycott of teams running Michelin tires.
“I’m fully recovered from my accident and I’m looking forward to getting back to racing in France,” he said.
“Magny-Cours is not my favorite track but the French Grand Prix is one of six races which I have won in my career. I also took my first pole there in 2001.”
Schumacher missed the race in Indianapolis after crashing into a concrete wall, at the same spot where he broke bones in his back following an accident during last year’s race.
He was not fit enough to take part in his team’s recent Toyota testing session but claims he will be able to race at the weekend.
“I did not take part in last year’s event, so this week’s race will mark my first trip since I won in 2003,” he added.
