RIYADH, 30 June 2005 — Masihudeen Inamullah has been named new consul general of Sri Lanka in Jeddah. He will succeed A.M.J Sadiq who has been appointed ambassador to the Kingdom.
The Director General of Overseas Administration at the Foreign Ministry in Colombo, Ibrahim Sahib Ansar, told Arab News that Inamullah will assume charge in early July.
Inamullah is a graduate in Arabic language from the prestigious University of Ceylon. He also studied in Jamiah Naleemiyah, a college well known for producing Islamic scholars. Later, he served the college as a lecturer.
Inamullah, 42, has been working as an adviser on international affairs for the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), a political party. He is also member of the SLMC’s Supreme Council.
At present, he is a member of the National Advisory Council on Peace and Reconciliation, which functions under the Presidential Secretariat.
Talking to Arab News on phone Inamullah said, “I am really delighted to be appointed as my country’s consul general to the Kingdom. It is a privilege to serve my own countrymen on this holy land.”
