AMMAN, 4 July 2005 — The Central Bank of Jordan yesterday raised the basic interest rate on the Jordanian dinar by 0.25 percentage point, to 4.75 percent from 4.5 percent, to match a similar hike on the US dollar rate that was announced over the weekend by the Federal Reserve, according to the CBJ Governor Umayya Toukan. “The CBJ on Sunday raised the rediscount rate by 0.25 percentage point in response to a similar hike by the US Federal Reserve,” Toukan said.
