RALEIGH, North Carolina, 9 July 2005 — Milwaukee guard Michael Redd has agreed a six-year, $90-million deal to remain with the Bucks after spurning an offer to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers, his agent said.
“Michael has decided to remain with the Bucks,” Kevin Poston told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Cleveland was a great situation, very intriguing. But Milwaukee is Michael’s town.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers had offered Redd a five-year contract worth about $70 million and he visited the city on Wednesday before deciding to stay with the Bucks. He will not be able to sign with the Bucks until July 23, when the NBA moratorium for free agents ends.
“We’re engaged in free-agent negotiations with Michael Redd,” Bucks general manager Larry Harris said in a statement. “We intend to enter into a player contract with Michael once the moratorium period has ended.”
