JEDDAH, 12 July 2005 — Sixty needy children are taking part in a summer camp being held here since Sunday. The camp, with “Let’s Succeed” as its theme, is for 9- to 13-year-olds who are in the care of Al Bir Association. It will end with a graduation ceremony today. “The camp is fascinating and it had some interesting activities,” 10-year-old Fahd remarked.

The camp aims to teach the children the importance of knowledge, discipline and collaboration in their bid to achieve their goals and ambitions in life. Each day of the three-day camp, set in one of the picturesque beaches at Obhur in north Jeddah, focuses on one of the three elements through fun and exciting games and activities.

“Every day we strive to touch the lives of people across the Kingdom and the region. With this activity, we want to help children in need with their direct participation and involvement in various activities,” said the spokesman for Al Bir Association.

Modern Products Company (MPC) organized the camp in cooperation with Al Bir Association. “We’re excited to conduct the activities at the camp and help these youngsters seek a bright future,” MPC’s Public Affairs Manager Turki ibn Moammar said. The MPC employees conducted the activities, while members of the media volunteer their time to act as judges for many of children’s exciting and lesson-building games and activities. This event launched the MPC’s volunteering program, designed to help children in need, with a second event of the kind scheduled in Dammam, followed by sustained implementation every year to maximize the reach.
