JEDDAH, 13 July 2005 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd is in good health and is getting better every day, according to Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation.
“We are not in a hurry to have him leave (hospital) until he is fully healthy,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the prince as saying.
King Fahd was admitted to King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh on May 27 for medical examination.
Prince Sultan was talking to reporters in Riyadh after holding official talks with visiting Portuguese Defense Minister Luis Amado.
“Our discussions focused on prospects of cooperation and this will be followed by visits by representatives of both countries,” Prince Sultan said.
He said the two countries would sign agreements later after conducting adequate studies. He emphasized that Amado’s visit would help strengthen Saudi-Portuguese ties.
Amado highlighted the strong relations between the two countries. “We cooperate in a lot of areas. Our prime minister has invited Prince Sultan to Portugal and we hope to see him in our country soon,” he said.
Amado earlier met with Crown Prince Abdullah and Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal. Amado delivered a message from Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates to the crown prince.
Amado, who arrived in Riyadh on Monday, held talks with Prince Sultan on “issues of common concern, major questions on the regional and international scenes, and areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries,” SPA said.
