MANAMA, 21 July 2005 — Three Bahraini men are in police custody in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old Saudi college student in Bahrain. His body was discovered on the side of a road on Tuesday morning.
Saleh Thamer Mohammed Radwan was discovered laying on the side of the road in a secluded area in Hamala, west of the capital Manama, by a Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) member as the near by base was going through a shift change at 6 a.m.
Paramedics and police rushed to the scene but Radwan, who is a student at the University College of Science and Technology, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police suspected that Radwan’s body, who lives in Barbar with his family not too far from where he was found, might have been dumped there after he was killed.
His body had bruises, suggesting that he was beaten, and showed signs of possible strangulation.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID), Brig. Farouk Al Ma’awdah, in a statement issued on his behalf by the Ministry of Interior late Tuesday night, said that police nabbed the first suspect within the first four hours of the police investigation.
Sources said that the second and third suspects were arrested separately between the early morning hours and afternoon on Wednesday after a massive manhunt began to track them down.
The motive of the murder is still under investigation.
