KHAMIS MUSHAYT, 21 July 2005 — Indian Consul General Dr. Ausaf Sayeed assured the members of the Indian community in Asir that the consulate would help in getting an Indian school established there.
Speaking at a reception organized in his honor by Asir Indian Association (AIA), Sayeed said that during his meeting with Asir Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal he raised the school issue. “In response, the governor assured us of all possible help”, Sayeed said.
The consul general suggested various ways of applying for a school license with the Ministry of Education and said the consulate would help in the process.
The reception was marked by a colorful program.
A. Jamil, the general secretary of AIA, welcomed the consul general. Abdul Razzak, president of AIA, highlighted the problems of the Indians in Asir and reiterated demand for a school. Velu Morgan, vice president, also spoke on the occasion.
AIA office-bearers Abdul Razzak, Dr. Velu, A. Jamil, Mir Yawar Ali, Serwer Sattar, Sheikh Aziz, Akbar Sattar, V. Sabu, Zafar Quadri, Mir Fazal Ali, Ibrahim and Gopalakrishnan presented a memento to the chief guest.
The consul general and Mrs. Farha Sayeed gave away prizes to the participants and Open School Examination position holders. Iman Aqeel topped the Khamis center exam with 98.5 percent marks.
The consul general was on an official trip to the Asir region where he met the Asir governor and discussed bilateral relations including cooperation in education.
Sayeed also met with Secretary-General Abha Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammad Al-Muzher and discussed ways of boosting cooperation in IT sector and investment.
