RIYADH, 24 July 2005 — A Saudi man fainted after a young man stole his camera cell phone in a phone shop in Riyadh. The Saudi man said that his camera cell phone contained private family pictures and private video clips, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported. The owner of the shop said that the man left his cell phone on the counter. In a few seconds a young man entered the shop, snatched the camera cell phone and ran off. It took several minutes for the man to recover consciousness. The victim of the robbery feared that his family photos and video clips would be circulated using bluetooth technology, which is widely misused in Saudi Arabia. He tried to stop the cell phone using the manufacturer’s code number but failed because he had bought the cell phone on the black market and did not have a guarantee number. He tried to send viruses to the cell phone to disable it but failed because he had installed protection programs on his phone.
