JEDDAH, 28 July 2005 — The Ministry of Commerce and Industry agreed to lift the ban on importing fresh milk and other dairy products from Belgium. The ministry lifted the ban on importing some of Belgium’s food, meat and poultry products three years ago but continued imposing the ban on dairy products that was implemented following the spread of mad cow disease in some EU countries and the pollution of dairy products with dioxin. Belgium requested reviewing this decision after it guaranteed implementing the necessary health and technical regulations when exporting its dairy products to the Kingdom.
