JEDDAH, 18 August 2005 — Students of Al-Waha International School-Jeddah have excelled for the third consecutive year in their International Graduation Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations.
“This year’s graduating batch surpassed previous two years pass percentage,” director of the school, Zia Nadvi, said.
With 89.5 percent of the total entries scoring A*- C, this is an improvement compared to the previous two year’s scores of 78.62 percent and 89.5 percent respectively, Zia Nadvi said.
Zoya Amjad Hayat topped the list of the successful candidates with 5A*’s and 1 A, followed by Zohra Jabeen and Ameena Zacky who have got 4 A*’s/3 A’s and 3A*’s/5 A’s respectively.
Out of the 14 students who targeted the prestigious Cambridge-based International Certificate of Education (ICE) award by offering the requisite combination of subjects, seven students have graduated with ICE distinction whereas the other seven have earned ICE merit.
Ameena Zacky, Zohra Jabeen, Amira Gentapa 3A* and 3 A’s, Fatema Rajgara and Sana Shaukat with 2A* and 6A’s, Luay Marwan 1A* and 5 A’s and Umair Khan 1A* and 4A’s are the proud bearers of the ICE award in the distinction category, while the ICE award in the merit category goes to Naveera Sohail, Hibbah Wasim, Faiza Aslam, Anas Nadeem, Usman Atif, Yousuf Raza and Zainul Abideen.
Director Zia Nadvi congratulated teachers and the students on their marvelous achievement.
