NEW DELHI, 20 August 2005 — India and World Bank signed yesterday a loan agreement of $325 million to help Maharashtra, India’s second largest sate, improve the productivity of its water resources. The agreement was signed in the presence of World Bank President Paul D. Wolfowitz and Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram by Country Director (India) Michael Carter, Joint Secretary (Union Ministry of Finance) M. Prasad and Secretary (Water Resources, Maharashtra) S.V. Sodal.
