RIYADH, 27 August 2005 — Economic experts expect that the consumption of foodstuffs to increase by 6 percent to reach SR50 billion per year, an increase by SR4 billion, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported. The increase derives from the 15 percent increase in the salaries of government employees. The total amount — SR28 billion — is spent on Ramadan food and school food. The rest of the money, SR18 billion, is spent during the rest of the year on foodstuffs.
