JEDDAH, 28 August 2005 — Shoura Council Chairman Dr. Saleh Ben-Humaid said there was no plan for the moment to hold elections to the consultative body.
“The issue of holding elections to pick half the members of the Shoura Council has not yet been discussed,” Al-Watan Arabic daily quoted the Shoura chief as saying.
Ben-Humaid is on a visit to Balqarn, a township in the southern Asir region. He held an open dialogue with government officials and tribal leaders in Balqarn on the importance and activities of the Shoura Council.
