AHSA, 28 August 2005 — After almost despairing of ever becoming a father, Abdulaziz Khalid Ai-Khaldi, a schoolteacher in Ahsa, had to come to terms with a ready-made family — a boy and three girls — recently.
A rare set of quadruplets, born after a 29-week gestation period, was delivered by Cesarean section from his 25-year-old wife, who had been infertile for eight years.
The quadruplets weighed 900 to 1,100 grams. Though two of them were born in critical condition requiring artificial ventilation, now the mother and her babies are in a stable state. They will remain under close observation for a short period.
