MADINAH, 13 August 2006 — Abu Qasem Madharmy, a Bangladeshi, had a counterfeit work visa. Sudanese Al-Obeid Al-Kerar was charged with forging documents. Muhammad Bishr Khan, a Pakistani, told Arab News he had been sentenced for “indecency” — he didn’t elaborate.
These were three of the 50 men and 17 women, all foreigners, released yesterday from the prison in Madinah as part of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s ongoing amnesty of inmates in the Kingdom’s prisons.
Brig. Gen. Muheya Al-Seheimy, the director of prisons in Madinah, said that more prisoners would be released in the coming days as soon as the paperwork and remaining procedures were completed.
Foreigners released under this amnesty are being deported. All of the prisoners were being held for public rights violations.
