JEDDAH, 14 August 2006 — Saudi actor Faez Al-Malki has announced that he will be returning to the MBC channel’s CBM program to play the role of Kofi Annan, the secretary general of the United Nations, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.

After shooting 80 episodes, Al-Malki had stopped playing the role because he felt it had no thrills and was full of repetition. At the time he had also said that he was busy working on a film in Beirut.

The actor told Al-Watan that he had decided to retake the role because no other Saudi actor was willing to act as Kofi Annan. The role is said to be tough and rather challenging.

On Saturday, the actor also began shooting a 20-episode comedy film entitled “Abu Shalakh Al-Barmai.” The cast of the film includes Ghanim Al-Saliti, Hassan Ballam, Zuhra Arafat and Lamya Tariq.
