DAMMAM, 19 August 2006 — Production of the Saudi movie, “Aurag Sajeena,” is progressing with the show’s actors arriving in the eastern city of Al-Ahsa today to begin shooting scenes. From Al-Ahsa, they will head to Riyadh where work on the rest of the movie will be completed, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
“Aurag Sajeena” is the story of a woman, who after putting up with years of verbal and physical abuse at the hands of her husband, is imprisoned for his murder.
Producer Khaled Al-Takheem said he expected the movie, which has a number of talented Saudi stars, to be a tremendous success.
“My aim is to present bold and strong work reflecting the progress achieved by Saudi drama,” the paper quoted him as saying.
Kazem Al-Saher Plans Charity Concert at Cairo Opera House
JEDDAH, 19 August 2006 — Famous Iraqi singer Kazem Al-Saher said yesterday that he would hold a concert at the Cairo Opera House on Aug. 31. He is appearing on stage after four years, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
“I have taken part in a number of concerts to collect donations for the children of Palestine and Iraq,” he said, adding that the returns from the upcoming concert in Cairo would be used for the welfare of Lebanese children.
Al-Saher did not specify what songs he would sing at the event but said that he would sing the songs wanted by his fans.
Al-Saher will also take part in two concerts in Algeria; one of them will be held today and the other tomorrow, the Arabic daily said. Part of the revenues from the concerts will also be used to support the Lebanese people.
