JEDDAH, 19 August 2006 — A rather large lizard took refuge inside the engine carriage of a car parked near Madinah Court here, spooking neighbors who could do little but circle warily around the vehicle hoping to catch a glimpse of the dragon beneath the hood, the Al-Madinah daily reported yesterday. Police were called, but they couldn’t open the hood to apprehend the fugitive. Finally the owner of the car, who was also a police officer, arrived at the scene. Suddenly the creature took flight from beneath the car. The reptile’s path was easily cleared, as people were more than obliged to jump out of the way. The owner of the vehicle immediately went to the nearest carwash to make sure no other scaly stowaways were hiding beneath the hood.
