RIYADH, 21 August 2006 — Pakistan Writers Club-Riyadh, an association of expatriate writers and journalists, is hosting a function to mark the 60th Independence Day of Pakistan here on Thursday (Aug. 24). Pakistan Ambassador retired Adm. Shahid Karimullah will be the chief guest at the event to be held at the community hall of the Embassy of Pakistan. A musical event with Ustad Hamid Ali Khan will be among the highlights of the program. Afzaal Shahid, a writer, poet, journalist and TV compere, is coming from Pakistan to conduct the event. The entry to the program is via an invitation card that is available for SR75 at major Pakistani restaurants and other hangouts around Riyadh. They include Lahori Khabey, Baba Sweet Mart, Poshak, Al-Hamra Restaurant, Mehboob Restaurant, Mehrab Restaurant and Marhaba restaurants at both of its Malaz and Olaya branches, according to club President Tariq Nadim Sheikh(050-642-7806).
