Hind Mohammed Highlights Reluctance to Hire Saudi Actresses
RIYADH, 25 August 2006 — Saudi actress Hind Muhammad who is dubbed as the lead actress for several upcoming films, said she refused to take on a role just for appearance sake. Hind, who acted in the acclaimed Saudi film “Kaif Al-Hal,” told the Al-Watan daily yesterday that she did not insist on always getting lead roles and is willing to take any role as long as it is exciting.
She said, “unfortunately, Saudi producers are not convinced of the talent of Saudi actresses. That is why many producers always hire actresses from the Gulf or other Arab countries. They are then given lead roles even if they are not popular with the public while Saudi actresses are standing in the wings waiting for the crumbs of minor roles.”
