KARACHI, 7 August 2006 — Three high officials of Pakistan have been selected for training at the FBI head office in the Untied States where they would be imparted training on strategies to counter terrorism in Pakistan, sources said. The training period would be three months, sources in the Sindh government said. They further said the FBI would educate them about strategies to cope with terrorism as well as foil terrorist plans besides preparing security plans for high-ups and diplomats in the country.
Beware of Women Suicide Bombers
The government has issued directives to the Karachi police on potential women suicide bombers who could target religious gatherings. “I cannot deny that there is no danger of more suicide attacks,” said IG Jehangir Mirza whose office issued a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to check suicide attacks and make clear what security measures should be taken. “This exercise is not linked to the Allama Hasan Turabi case but some federal instructions have been received after which we are having to focus more on gatherings for women,” Mirza stressed.
