CAIRO, 11 August 2006 — Syrian singer Mayada Al-Hanawi will make a special guest appearance and sing at the opening and final scenes of the TV serial “Maddah Al-Qamar,” which is based on the life of the late musician Baligh Hamdi, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.

Mamdouh Abdul Alim will play the role of the legendary musician. Mamdouh has lost a lot of weight and is currently getting intensive training on lute for the role. The film is directed by Magdi Ahmad Ali.

Mayada said she agreed to the guest appearance because of her admiration and love for the late musician who composed music for 13 of her songs.

Some of her most treasured songs included “I Am in Love With You,” “The Old Love,” “Hey It’s Me,” and “Your Love Never Dies.”
