DAMMAM, 25 August 2006 — Twenty women who successfully completed their training program on “How to start your own small business,” were congratulated at a graduation ceremony held here this week. The National Commercial Bank (NCB) conducted the course as part of its Al-Ahli social service programs. The programs aim to support young Saudi men and women who seek to establish their own small businesses.
Mahmoud Turkistani, head of NCB’s community service unit (CSU), lauded the efforts of the Women’s Business Center at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EPCCI) and King Faisal University for holding the course. He said that course graduates had earned their qualification and acquired basic skills necessary to start their own small businesses through a specialized program that covered training in conducting work plan, feasibility study, finance, accounting, marketing and market survey.
He added that the trainers would follow up on the students for six months to offer them free consultations and answer their queries. Adnan Al-Nuaim of the EPCCI presented the bank with an honorary plaque to the head of the CSU.
