CAIRO, 6 August 2006 — Mamdouh Al-Laithi, chairman of the 22nd Alexandria International Film Festival, which starts Sept. 5, said several Palestinian resistance films would be shown in the Panorama on the sidelines of the festival, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.
Mamdouh also said that the well-known artist Waleed Taher has designed the festival logo showing a vessel carrying the Mediterranean films to the four corners of the globe while a star is shining over the city of Alexandria.
Media director for the festival Samir Shahata confirmed the participation of Serbian films in the contest section of the festival.
Olov Novokovitch’s “The Tomorrow Morning” will represent Serbia in the official competition.
Syrian director, Nidal Al-Dabs, would also present his film, “Under the Roof” in the contest.
Director Raafat Sharkas, who is the secretary general of the Damascus International Cinematic Festival, will be in attendance.
