JEDDAH, 6 August 2006 — A Saudi man lost his appetite for the ful (mashed lentil stew) he ordered after the price for the meal went from SR2 to SR467, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. Thinking it would only take a few moments to grab a quick breakfast the man parked illegally to pick up his food. The car was then towed. He winded up paying SR300 for the fine and SR150 to get the vehicle out of impound. He paid an additional SR15 for cab fare. He lost his appetite after realizing how much he spent for a little ful.
Woman Shouts ‘Hooray!’ After Divorce
MAKKAH, 6 August 2006 — A judge and his courtroom were startled when, immediately after being granted a divorce, a woman shouted with joy, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. The judge ordered the woman to be quiet. She explained that she was so happy to finally have been freed from a miserable marriage that she couldn’t contain herself at the discharge.
