JEDDAH, 23 November 2006 — Wehda of Makkah defeated Al-Faisali 2-1 yesterday and moved temporarily to the third position in the standings with 16 points in the eighth round of the Saudi soccer league.

Al-Faisali were first to score in the first half through Saad Al-Zahrani from a penalty kick. Essa Al-Muhayyani soon equalized for Faisali in the 31st minute. The game was then reduced to a midfield battle between the two teams before Hamadji scored the winner for Wehda .

In another match in Hail, Taie failed to score against Khaleej and lost the match 1 – 0. With the win, Khaleej jumped two places to 10th in the standings with 6 points. Taie remained 6th with 10 points. Al-Hilal will try to take the top rank by claiming the three points in the match today against Qadesiya in Dammam. Hilal are currently in second position with 18 points equal with Shabab who are ranked first by virtue of the goal difference. Al-Qadisiya are last with mere 4 points.
