KUWAIT, 27 August 2006 — Kuwaiti director Ghafil Fadel has just started shooting a drama series entitled “Al-Akh Saleha” — the script of which has been written by Haya Al-Fahd, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.

Featuring in this Dubai-based production include the Emirati actors Ibrahim Al-Salal, Jamal Al-Radahan, Ahmad Al-Salman, Muna Shaddad, Muhammad Al-Sayrafi, Haya Al-Shoaybi and Naji Khamis.

The drama focuses largely on certain social issues, which are not commonly discussed in gulf soaps and dramas.

Haya Al-Fahd, who also plays the lead-actress role in the drama, said that housing problems faced by families living in the Gulf is, for instance, something that influences relations between family members particularly married couples.

New Action-Packed Drama Set for Ramadan

DAMMAM, 27 August 2006 — Gulf writer Fajr Al-Saeed’s new action packed drama — “The Embraturah” — will be shown on the LBC channel during Ramadan, which is set to begin in the last week of September, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.

The Gulf thriller revolves around a middleclass family’s unexpected riches following the head of the family, Faisal, becoming the front for the business operations of a cunning businessman. The story then later continues how the businessman decides to kill Faisal when the business begins to thrive.

Faisal manages to escape the attempted assassination and having learned who is behind the attempt on his life, attempts to settle scores with his enemy.

The drama depicts the prevalent social trend of people wishing to unethically make money at any cost.
