RIYADH, 31 March 2006 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah will deliver the annual address to the Shoura Council outlining the domestic and foreign policy of the Kingdom on Saturday.
The king is scheduled to address the opening session of the council at its headquarters here.
Shoura Council Chairman Sheikh Saleh ibn Abdullah Bin-Humaid stressed the importance of the annual meeting of the council members and the top leaders of the Kingdom, according to a statement issued through the Saudi Press Agency.
Bin-Humaid also pointed out the gradual steps taken by the Kingdom’s top authorities for balanced reforms and the role of the council in the reforms through providing advice and consultation.
The sheikh expressed the council’s appreciation of the services of the country’s present and past kings, which he said conforms to contemporary parliamentary performance within the parameters of Islamic law. Members of the Shoura Council enjoy four-year terms.
Bin-Humaid said the Shoura Council is the basic pillar for decision-making in the Kingdom. It has also become a link between the Kingdom’s people and the outside world through the exchange of visits with other parliamentary organizations, he said.
