AL-AHSA, 30 July 2006 — Be it at the bank, the checkout desk at the airport, or wherever common decency and respect are not just the right thing to do but also a way to keep people from bickering or feeling like secondhand citizens, some people behave like they are the master of their surroundings.
We are referring to the disrespectful attitude of those whose egos are so magnanimously overindulged that they cut in front of others who have formed a civilized line, waiting their turn like good human beings.
The Okaz daily reported yesterday that such a selfish excuse for a young man decided he was the most important customer at a bank.
Instead of being a respectful person, and going to the back of the queue like all of the other plebeians, the young man simply walked to the front of the line of waiting customers and began conducting his business.
Another man, who was just about to take his turn at the window to pay his bills, didn’t like this too much, so he pushed the other guy out of the way, causing him to lose his balance and fall.
Angered by this response, the line-cutter got up and punched the other man in the face, knocking him out and breaking his nose. Security guards then swooped in and detained the young man until police arrived to take him away.
