MUMBAI, 8 November 2006 — The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Maharashtra police, yesterday afternoon arrested two Unani medicine doctors on charges of conspiracy in the Malegaon bomb blasts case.
The doctors, Salman Farsi was arrested from his hide-out in suburb Govandi in Mumbai and Farouk Rauf was picked up from his residence in Malegaon. Both the accused were booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) and will be produced in the court of special Judge Mridula Bhatkar of the MCOCA court in Mumbai late yesterday evening, after performing the medical tests of the accused.
An official of the ATS said that both the accused are suspected to have participated in the conspiracy of triggering the blasts and further details would be known after thorough interrogations of both the accused. With the latest arrests, the tally of those arrested with the Malegaon blasts case has gone to five.
