BESH, 30 August 2006 — A Saudi man had the senses beaten out of him by a group of men he helped illegally immigrate into the Kingdom, the Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. The man had agreed to transfer the undocumented migrants from Besh province to Al-Darb province for a fee. Once he had delivered the men to their destination, they refused to pay him. The man then tried to run the men over with his truck, but got stuck in the sand. The migrants, seeing what the man tried to do, then pulled him out of his vehicle and beat him unconscious. Passers by revived the man, who was initially hesitant to go to authorities because he had broken the law by transporting persons who did not have valid work-residency visas (iqamas).
