ABHA, 5 September 2006 — Saudi writer Abdullah Bajad Al-Otaibi, script editor of the television film “Duat Ala Abawab Jahannam” portraying the horrors of terrorist ideologies, said he took special care in writing and editing the religious points in the film, which is scheduled to be shown on Abu Dhabi TV next month, the Al-Jazirah newspaper reported yesterday.
Iyad Al-Khazour and Ridwan Shaheen have jointly directed the film while Adel Al-Jabri, Yasser Qubailat and Al-Otaibi wrote the script.
In a telephone interview from London where some scenes of the film are currently being shot, Al-Otaibi said, “I have only the peace and stability of my country and other countries in my mind particularly when the men motivated by deviant ideologies have been attributing their savageries to Islam. Such thoughts and consequent deeds have nothing to do with Islamic values and I will continue my struggle against venomous ideologies that lead to nothing but destruction.”
Al-Otaibi believes that the film is the best medium to fight evil ideologies and portray the shining image of Islam. He said he chose the title which means “Preacher at the Hates of Hellfire,” as it referred to what the Prophet, peace be upon him, said about some misguided people.
Al-Otaibi said he was not afraid of the threat calls he received from various hostile groups as he did last year following the release of another controversial film, “Hoor Al-Ayn.” Al-Otaibi was the script editor of the movie, which discussed the sufferings of a family following terror attacks.
The film has been shot at locations in various countries including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Afghanistan, Russia, Pakistan and Britain.
