ABHA, 3 November 2006 — The Saudi coast guard managed to foil an attempt to smuggle 97 Sudanese and Nigerians into the Kingdom via a boat, reported the Al-Watan newspaper.
The coast guard spotted a boat 20 miles near the Saudi coast and guided the boat to shore. The illegal immigrants were given help and medical check-ups. Coast guards reported that the people were suffering from exhaustion and in bad shape because they had been sailing for a long time without food and fresh water.
