JEDDAH, 30 August 2006 — Saudi actor Abdul Mohsen Al-Namir is currently in Syria for the shooting of “Asad Al-Jazirah” and “Abu Shalakh Al-Barmai,” one of two serials he will star in for Ramadan.
Al-Namir told the Al-Watan daily that “Asad Al-Jazirah,” a historical film on Sheikh Mubarak, the Emir of Kuwait, will be the most notable of his Ramadan presentations.
Several Arab actors, such as Muhammad Al-Mansour and Haya Al-Fahd from Kuwait, Huda Al-Khatib from the United Arab Emirates and Sallum Haddad from Syria are playing various roles in the film on the Kuwaiti leader, directed by Basen Al-Khatib.
Al-Namir is also acting in the comedy film “Abu Shalakh Al-Barmai” for Saudi Channel One.
Star of 60s Returns After Four Decades
CAIRO, 30 August 2006 — Popular Egyptian actress of the 1960s, Lubna Abdel Aziz, has decided to return to acting after 40 years of absence the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
She will be appearing in Hani Lashen’s television serial “Al-Sairun Fil Layl”, which is based on a story by Saad Makkawi with a screenplay by Mustafa Ibrahim.
She was one of the leading actresses of the Arab world between, appearing in diverse roles of a lovesick teenager, comedienne and a rebel.
She proved to be an instant success in her debut in Salah Abu Saif’s “Al-Wisada Al-Khaliya” opposite Abdel Halim Hafiz.
Since her return to Cairo in 1998 after her long stay in the United States with her husband Ismael Barrada and two daughters, Lubna has been receiving numerous offers to return to the film world.
