KARACHI, 8 September 2006 — The Muttahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed said MMA senators, MNAs and MPAs would resign from their respective floors to launch a march against federal government even if any amendment is made in the Hudood Ordinance.Addressing the last public gathering of anti-government protest drive here at Liaquat Bagh, Qazi demanded the government to immediately withdraw the amended Women Protection Bill 2006 from the National Assembly.
MMA secretary-general and JUI’s Maulana Fazalur Rehman said MMA has reviewed the ‘Women Protection Bill’ and considers it against Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. He said the religious-parties coalition had unanimously decided to offer every sacrifice to not to allow the government to pass the bill. Raja Zafar-ul-Haq demanded the government to immediately stop the ongoing military operation in Balochistan as well as Waziristan and resolve all the issues through political dialogues.
