JEDDAH, 9 April 2006 — A seminar on education and career guidance, organized by the local center of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was attended by a large number of students interested in distance education.

Students in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam said they were particularly impressed by the workshops conducted by IGNOU’s Distance Education Director Mahesh Chand Sharma. The workshops focused on improving the skill of teachers in imparting effective education.

The IGNOU students, most of whom were teachers from various international schools in the Kingdom, said they chose IGNOU’s higher education program as it was widely accepted and recognized.

At the concluding seminar held at International Indian School-Jeddah, Sharma spoke at great length about the merits, credentials and flexibility of distance education. “Distance programs have helped in students and employees enhancing their qualifications and upgrading their professional careers,” he said.
