DAMMAM, 11 April 2006 — Continuing its recent run of major contract awards, the Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company has announced another 11 orders totaling SR95.2 million to supply pipes and accessories for projects in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.
“While the Amiantit Group is a global industrial organization with factories and customers all around the world, supplying pipe systems for Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical, industrial and water & sewage requirements continues to be at the core of our manufacturing activities,” Amiantit President & CEO Fareed Al-Khalawi said. “And it’s a matter of great satisfaction to be able to say that the pipes needed for the Kingdom’s infrastructure networks are being manufactured here at home to the highest international standards. In fact, today, it is the Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company that is developing production technologies and setting the standards for the rest of the world.”
The orders in the Kingdom amount to SR76.5 million and are for GRP (glass reinforced polyester) and GRE (glass reinforced epoxy) pipes which will be produced at two Amiantit Group manufacturing facilities in Dammam - Amiantit Fiberglass Industries Ltd. (AFIL) and Bondstrand Ltd. The pipes are for gravity water and sewer systems at Saudi Aramco, Khurais, and for potable water, fire water, cooling water and oily water pipe systems for various projects in Rabigh, Jubail and Yanbu.
Another Amiantit Group factory in Dammam, Saudi Arabian Ductile Pipe Systems Company Ltd. (SADIP), is set to manufacture ductile iron pipes and fittings to fulfill orders worth SR18.7 million for potable water networks in Abu Dhabi. The pipes will be supplied to the Shuweihat Water Transmission Scheme, Jabal Dhara to Sir Banyas Island (onshore) project, and the water network for the construction of Internal Roads in Mohammed Bin Zayed City project.
