RIYADH, 12 April 2006 — The Philippine Embassy will be closed from tomorrow until Sunday in observance of the Philippine holidays.
But a team from the embassy will be holding office in Jubail, Eastern Region, tomorrow and on Friday to conduct a registration for overseas absentee voting (OAV), an embassy press statement said yesterday.
Tomorrow, registration will be held at the EQRA International School, located in front of Jubail General Hospital.
On Friday, registration will be held at the Al-Suwaidi Camp 2 in Jubail.
Registration will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.
This list-up is in coordination with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office – Eastern Region and the community groups Afscom and FilCom-Jubail, the statement quoted Ambassador Bahnarim A. Guinomla as saying.
He called on Filipinos in the Industrial City of Jubail and nearby areas to take time to register so that they participate in next year’s elections. He advised OAV applicants to present their original valid Philippine passport and submit a photocopy of such.
For those who cannot present their original passports (i.e., under the custody of the employer), applicants must submit a photocopy of the passport and any supporting document, such as Philippine driver’s license, SSS card, employment card, birth certificate, marriage contract, or other documents to prove their identity, he said.
