PARIS, 13 April 2006 — French utility Veolia Environnement has won a $336 million contract to build a plant to desalinate seawater in Bahrain, it said yesterday. The plant was scheduled for a staggered start-up next April and would have a production capacity of 273,000 cubic meters a day of drinking water, it said.
OOMC Plans JV in Yemen
MUSCAT, 13 April 2006 — Oman Oil Marketing Co. (OOMC) said yesterday it plans to set up a joint venture in Yemen to market petroleum products. OOMC and its affiliate Sooraj Group have signed a memorandum of understanding with Yemen Petroleum Co. for a feasibility study to establish a retail network in Yemen, said Mike Wilson, managing director of OOMC.
