JEDDAH, 19 April 2006 — A secondary school student was killed by his friend in cold blood in Jamoum, a town north of Makkah, on Saturday, for reasons yet to be discovered. Police arrested the suspected killer on Sunday.

The alleged killer found Khaled, his victim, playing football outside the city in the evening and asked him to go with him to a remote area because he had to tell something very important. When they reached the place the man shot Khaled with his gun several times. Then he dragged the body behind a rock and set it on fire to destroy evidence, Al-Madinah newspaper reported.

As Khaled did not return home even after nightfall, his parents informed the police who immediately sent out a search team. The still smoldering fire attracted the attention of the search party to the partially burned body.

Police had information that the victim had been seen with the suspect earlier that evening and they arrested him.
